Carly and Berrads wedding in Richmond Va was the perfect happy ending to a wonderful love story. It all started when they had their first date on July 4th, 2008 at an ice cream place at Short Pump Town Center.
When I got there, he was sitting down with his friends and gave me a hug,” said Carly, “I sat down with them for about ten minutes, and then we left.”
On that same day, Berrad asked her out on a second date- this time just the two of them- dinner and drinks at The Hard Shell on West Broad St. They both glowed as they talked about their memories from their first date.
A few months into dating Berrad decided it was time to tell Carly he loved her,
“I wrote it down on a piece of paper like a total dork,” said Berrad, laughing. He handed the note to her as she was coming out of the shower and she read it and immediately began to cry.
On September 19th, 2008 they were engaged. At that point, they had been dating for about 7 months! Knowing how much he was planning on proposing-she took off with one of their friends from UVa so Berrad couldn’t tag along and surprise her. She wore an old Navy dress while walking through Carytown when Berrads friend called him up AND told him where she was going to be at Carytown Ice Cream!!! They both were so surprised to see each other that they couldn’t stop hugging and crying.
Carly was looking for a house to rent when she saw Berrads house, and soon enough it became their first house together. They have been living there ever since!
“We had our first kiss on September 19th, 2008,” said Carly, “7 months of dating at the time!”
On August 13th, 2012- exactly 4 years after they had gotten engaged– they were married!! It was a dream come true for both of them- with everything happening in such perfect order.
I would not change anything about that day,” said Berrad, “except maybe getting rid of people ;).”
“We had the reception at St. John’s Church just down the road from Carytown and we got ready in Berrads parent’s house,” said Carly, “it was perfect.”
During their reception, they shared their first dance to “At Last” by Etta James. They also presented a special gift they had gotten for each other- a picture of them as babies that were taken on exactly the same day in August 1993! They couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect or sentimental. Berrad and Carly are great examples of how love can last and knowing that it’s true when they say “happily ever after”. I am so glad I could be a part of this special time in their lives!
